They have committed to encouraging those in the building trade to speak about these issues, and learn more about what they can do to make a difference.

As part of this commitment, posters with information about accessing support have been put up across their main yard and in the onsite bathrooms.

Brian Gallen, Director of Selsdon Building Contractors, said of the partnership:

“Selsdon Building Contractors is delighted to be signing up the UK SAYS NO MORE campaign as one of the first building contractors in the UK and supporting the great work agencies are doing across the UK to support victims of domestic violence and abuse and sexual assault.

We all need to be talking about the issues victims face and supporting where we can.

Even for a building contractors business like ours where we predominantly have men working, these men can make a change and speak out about being a victim but also be part of the change not to abuse victims.

We all can play our part and for us we are passionate about making a change and look after our workforce.

We know that men are victims of domestic violence and abuse and there is a stigma with men coming forward to disclose and working in the building trade there are stereo types and pressure for men to act a certain way.

For Selsdon Building Contractors to be one of the first building companies to launch the campaign, I’m hoping it will show men in the building trade that it’s ok to talk about this issue. The trades on site have been very positive with comments knowing we have joined up to the campaign.”
