Why adopt Online Safe Spaces?

Since its launch, Online Safe Spaces are used on average once in every 34 seconds with a present usage figure of 70,000 unique users a month. The 1 million milestone was reached in April 2022.

Online Safe Spaces is currently available on many national websites, including Post Office, British Gas, TSB, Hive, South Eastern Rail and NI Water.

Online Safe Spaces is a widget you can add on to your website, enabling those experiencing domestic abuse to access support by clicking on the Safe Spaces logo on your homepage. It is 100% safe for users as it leaves no internet history and most of all it is free to install and use.

The project was an innovative reaction to helping victims of domestic abuse with the primary objective of providing expert support to anyone suffering or at risk of domestic abuse.

  • By adopting Online Safe Spaces you are providing a discreet pathway to specialist domestic abuse support.
  • you will be increasing the number of opportunities for victims of domestic abuse to safely access support while carrying out daily online tasks such as visiting your webpage.
  • By clicking on the Safe Spaces logo/widget on your website, you will be automatically taken to an Online Safe Space webpage and presented with information and resources on domestic abuse.
  • The Safe Spaces webpage does not appear in internet browsing history and has a quick exit function.
  • The Safe Spaces webpage can be read in most languages using a quick access translation tool.

For people experiencing domestic abuse, access to specialist domestic abuse support must remain readily accessible. Businesses continue to have a unique role in breaking the silence around domestic abuse and ensuring victims can access the help and support they need. We are delighted to work alongside those adopting online safe spaces to provide a community response to domestic abuse with their Safe Space opening. By creating this safe space we hope many will be able to safely access support.
