Find out about FRF’s work making positive change to support those in need, working closely with a diverse range of communities in an array of fields, providing faith and culturally sensitive provisions.
Who We Are
FRF is a multi faith charity with a strong track record of achieving targets and outcomes to ensure positive change for disadvantaged individuals and communities. We have successfully engaged with over 15000 beneficiaries since our inception in 2001.
Our USP is our ability to engage with communities and individuals where public services need extra support. Due to the trust and respect we have built within these communities over the last 12 years, we have been able to work closely with them in an array of fields such as housing, education and employment. We understand the diverse communities that live in the UK and are able to provide both faith and culturally sensitive provisions.
FRF also promotes greater understanding between faiths and cultures, and identifies solutions for encouraging positive relationships within our society based on a collaborative approach.
What We Do
Our mission is to eliminate the barriers that lead to social exclusion and poverty. We hope to achieve this by effectively empowering minority faith and BAME communities to make more meaningful and sustainable life choices. We are committed to unleashing the potential of all to establish cohesive and sustainable communities through developing disadvantaged individuals.
Using our intimate knowledge of British faith and BAME communities, we advise private and public stakeholders on ways to tailor development initiatives. We have achieved success in identifying and addressing learning needs in socially disadvantaged communities, building and sustaining strong networks, capacity building organizations, and carrying out consultations for public and private funders on a array of areas including barriers to employment, diversity and housing strategies.
Domestic Violence – A Concern For All
Last year, we conducted Big Lottery funded research across London surveying 210 women and 20 DV professionals which exposed the demand for holistic, bilingual and culturally sensitive services. The report is published on our website and it mirrors the wider understanding of how hidden DV is within our society. Nearly half of our survey group stayed in abusive relationships due to unemployment and 60% due to cultural stigma including ‘family honour’; sadly less than half sought professional help.
Our new project ‘Domestic Violence – A Concern for All’ aims to meet the needs that we uncovered during our research. It is open to any woman who has experienced DV at any point in their lives. Our programme offers a range of free services that can be matched to the individual’s needs, these include:
- Advocacy, information advice and guidance (one to one hour long sessions) from a Domestic Support Worker
- ESOL training (10 weeks, 12 hours a week)
- Motivation and employability workshops (one to one support and or 4 hours workshops)
- Accredited vocational courses
– L1 Health and Safety in the Workplace delivered over 2 days
– L1 Food Hygiene delivered over 2 days
– L1 Customer Care delivered over 5 days
- Careers advice and the opportunity to undertake work placements
